Fast Hands is a versatile training aid that helps to develop fast and accurate puck handling skills that can make any player untouchable. Regular practice and consistent training are a must when it comes to becoming a great hockey player. We have formulated a few drills for the serious hockey players to take their speed and agility to the next level of excellence. Remember that to be great you have to practice.
1. Wide & Short Dribble Combo
When you do this drill it is best to use a green biscuit. Remember to start out slow, then gradually increase your speed. Do between 5 and 10 reps for each exercise.
Place the Fast Hands bar on the ground in front of you with the horseshoe shape going out from you so that your stick can go between the arms.
Start from the left and shoot the biscuit through the spaces between the legs nearest you, all the way through to the outside on the right. Shift your body to the right and slap the biscuit back to the outer left.
On the left side slap the biscuit towards the right, but catch it in the middle of the Fast Hands. Slap to the left and right quickly in the middle, then slap it to the far right on the outside and catch it.
Slap the biscuit right and left on the outside, then slap it to the inside and slap right and left in the middle. Slap it to the outer left, then slap it right and left on the outside left.
Repeat the exercise 5 to 10 times and increase your speed as you go.
2. Bait Cup Go Around
Place the Fast Hands on the ground in front of you just like the last drill.
Place the biscuit to the right of the Fast Hands near the lower opening between the first two legs. Gently slap the biscuit towards the middle inside, then redirect it with your blade through the top slot of the Fast Hands.
Catch the biscuit at the top, then slap it back down through the center to the middle. Hook the blade to push the biscuit out through to the right.
Bring the biscuit under then direct it up through the top again. Catch it at the top then send it back down to the center again. Send it back through to the right.
Repeat this exercise 5 to 10 times while increasing your speed.
3. Expansion Across
Place the fast hands on the ground in front of you exactly like the above exercises.
Start on the outside right and slap the biscuit all the way through to the outside left.
Next, shoot the green biscuit through the diagonal space in the upper right, all the way through. Catch the biscuit and bring it back through to the lower-left outside.
From the lower left, shoot the biscuit through to the lower right outside. Stop the biscuit and send it up to the upper diagonal left outside.
Catch the biscuit on the upper left, outside then send it back through the lower right outside.
Repeat this exercise 5 to 10 times and continue to increase your speed as you do.
